In 2012, I began what I now refer to as my “mold illness journey.” The environment in which I was working made me ill, and more than 5 years later, I am still recovering. Fortunately, my health is slowly getting better, but the road has been long and hard, and treating this illness continues to be painful, expensive, and often extremely frustrating.
However, early in this process, I resolved that I would work to address the unfortunate variables that continue to affect me and many others and to advocate for the rights of workers whose lives are often devastated and/or permanently altered by “sick” workplaces. Allergic to Work is the first step in that process.
I’d like the website to be a resource both for individuals suffering with mold illness/chronic inflammatory response syndrome and for others in “unhealthy” work environments. Over the last 5+ years, I have learned a great deal about CIRS and related topics, and over the course of my 20+ year career, I have gained valuable experience as a multi-certified, human resources professional and licensed attorney.
Consequently, I hope the information I provide on the Allergic to Work website can make navigating various issues in the workplace easier for others.
Feel free to reach out to me with your questions and concerns, and please sign up for the Allergic to Work mailing list so that you’ll receive notifications about new posts and content. I am eager to help.
